RANZCO – The Annual Scientific Congress

This flagship meeting unites ophthalmologists and researchers from Australia and New Zealand to share breakthroughs, clinical advances, and best practices in eye care.

Pre-congress workshops on microsurgical techniques, diagnostic imaging, and research methodology set the stage for four days of scientific exchange. The main agenda includes plenary lectures, thematic symposia, oral presentations, and poster sessions covering cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma, retinal diseases, corneal transplantation, ocular oncology, and emerging fields like artificial intelligence in ophthalmology.

International thought leaders headline the congress. UK’s Professor Gus Gazzard delivers the Glaucoma Update Lecture, Sweden’s Professor Anders Behndig presents the Cataract Update Lecture, and New Zealand’s Associate Professor Andrea Vincent offers the Dame Ida Mann Memorial Lecture. Local presenters including Professors Celia Chen and Dinesh Selva lead specialty sessions.

The congress exhibition space hosts more than 80 industry booths showcasing ophthalmic instruments, pharmaceuticals, and digital health solutions. Accredited for continuing professional development, RANZCO offers up to 30 CPD points. Evening networking receptions, a welcome dinner, and city tours highlight Melbourne’s culture and provide opportunities for collaboration and mentorship.
